NOTICE is hereby given that the Zoning Hearing Board for West Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, PA, will conduct a hearing, open to the public, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 starting at 6:00 p.m., prevailing time, at the West Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Company, 20 Park Road, Plainfield, PA 17081. The hearing relates to an Application for Substantive Challenge to Validity of the Zoning Ordinance and/or Map No. 2016-02 and 2016-04 that was filed by Karl M. Smith, 1554 Newville Road, Carlisle, PA and Mark and Betty Butler of 1701 Newville Road, Carlisle, PA (Appellants). The Ordinances in question are Ordinance 2016-02, dated July 25, 2016 and Ordinance 2016-04, dated November 21, 2016, both adopted by the West Pennsboro Township Board of Supervisors. Those Ordinances changed the West Pennsboro Township Zoning Ordinance and related zoning map by changing the zoning classification for tracts of land owned by Alan Shover and William and Valerie Bock from High Density Residential (R-2) to Industrial (I).

The Application states that the property in question consists of 133 acres, of which approximately 125 acres is located in West Pennsboro Township and 8 acres in North Middleton Township. The properties in questions are located south of Interstate 76, west of Meadowbrook Road, and north of Newville Road. The properties in question are known as 1525 Newville Road, Carlisle, PA and 1617 Newville Road, Carlisle, PA and are designated as tax parcels 46-07-0473-018 and 46-07-0473-017, respectively.

Appellants have requested that the Zoning Hearing Board declare the Ordinances invalid, for reasons cited in the Application. A copy of the Application, including plans, explanatory material, attachments, detailed legal description for the property in question, and Appellants' proposed amendment is available for examination at the West Pennsboro Township Office, 2150 Newville Road, Carlisle, PA 17015 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm. Monday thru Friday.

The hearing will resume on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 starting at 6:00 p.m. at the same location first set forth above.
