Veterans Memorial
Located in West Pennsboro Township Park
Construction has started! The concrete for the footers has been poured and the walls have been started.
Fundraiser bricks for the Memorial can be purchased at the Township Office. Bricks can be purchased to honor or in memory of a veteran or to show your support for the Memorial. Bricks can be engraved with the person’s name, branch of service, rank, dates of service or date of loss. A 4”x 8” brick is $75.00 and the 8”x 8” brick is $150.00. Bricks purchased for veterans will line the entrance to the Memorial and bricks supporting the Memorial will be placed in the Friends of the Memorial area. You do not need to be a township resident or veteran to purchase a brick.
The following donations have been made in order to begin construction. Flagpoles have been purchased by the Plainfield Lions Club; concrete is being donated by Hempt Brothers; block, mortar and sand are being donated by Carlisle Cement Products; and back-fill is being donated by John W. Gleim Jr. Local residents and businesses have contributed monetary donations and numerous bricks have been purchased, which paid for construction expenses. The Recreation Advisory Board thanks everyone who has donated time, material or money, which supports the construction of the Memorial.
For 2010, our goal is to complete a large portion of the Veterans Memorial, but construction is contingent upon available funds.
The Recreation Advisory Board is accepting monetary donations and/or labor and material contributions to support the project. Please contact John Epley or Alan Hostetter at the Township Office, 2150 Newville Road, Carlisle, PA 17015 or by calling 717-243-8220 for additional information.
This Memorial will honor the men and women who served and are currently serving our country.
